ADELAIDE

So it's been a while.

We've been doing all sorts of fuck all.

Most notably - fuck all.

BUT - tonight Adelaide - we are all yours!

We are playing at the Jupiter Lead end of exams party at the Rocket Bar which I am guessing is on either Hindleigh or Rundle St...

Some of us are still a little shady from the ARIAs after party last night....The only time you will find a room full of people who are bigger wankers than us (well, Dylan and I).

So forgive us if we get drunk really quickly and vomit in the closest bin. Or similar.

Take Care people - we will be playing in your hood soon!

EP Launch Shows

EVERYBODY

We have our EP launches over the next two weeks in Sydney and Melbourne and we are pretty excited.

This picture below wont speak a thousand words but the words will speak the specific details of these gigs and how and where and it is all very exciting so forgive me for rambling:

Supports in Sydney are Siren Lines and Shadows Make Flight.
Melbourne we have Juan Alban from Epicure doing his solo thing and Callardore.

If you haven't heard our online chatter - our very good friend and talented young lady Kelly Banyai is accompanying us on our Sydney launch adding keys, percussion and her lovely voice into the mix. Regulars of Stu Stu have commented that we are now actually a good band and we sound about 10,000 times better with her so if you even remotley like us, do the maths! You will love this.

Melbourne, we are looking forward to seeing you.

What else... ummmm... yeah, all the regular links need clicking and adding and I think the video for Scout will be out soonish.

Oh yeah - this Friday tune into FBi 94.5 in Sydney to hear an acoustic song performed live by Joel and Dylan.

Righto

See you there

Heya,

Just a quick update to let you all know what's going on in the land of Sailmaker. Seems as though Sydney bands are going to be taking over Melbourne town this weekend. Not only will we be playing a couple of shows (Friday @ Ding Dong + Saturday @ WOW night club) but a whole bunch of our mates bands including Grand Fatal, LUNGS, The Optionals & Hell City Glamours have all got gigs in Melbs this weekend. Couple that with the fact that about half a Virgin Blue 737 worth of our mates are coming down for the shows it's shaping up as a pretty good weekend for all involved. Can any say after party???

In other news our brand new ep "BEG" will be in stores on the 24th of September and to celebrate the lovely people at KREW (word up Stokes) have decided to be nice enough to give one lucky person a clothing pack worth over $400! All you have to do to win this sweet prize is head to the Fist2Face website, www.fist2face.com.au and put in a pre order, simple as. We'll also be playing some launch shows in Sydney & Melbourne in October, fun times ahead.

Cheers,

Dylan

A very large update

Yes. A few things

Peeps we have a few shows coming up and an EP coming out and a bunch of other stuff so read up! Take notes...

This is important.

Yes, all that hibernation, procrastination... etc... etc... has resulted in us actually having shit to put out and a lot of stuff for us all to do.

Exciting times.

So first, our new EP 'Beg' is out 25th September.

A preview track is available on our myspace as per previous blog; Branches, has been getting a run on FBi and JJJ so if you like it and want to hear it when you are driving or hijacking the radio at work - put in a request!

To celebrate this whole new EP thing we are having a launch at Spectrum on 16th Oct with our good friends Animal Shapes and fellow inner city barfly's Siren Lines. I am almost scared of how much alcohol/ late 90's emo related hugging will occur here - there is only one way to find out though isn't there? That's right! Buy tickets here http://www.moshtix.com.au/event.aspx?id=30308, drink lots of beer and find one of the many lonely looking people in an American Football shirt.

Pic Related:

As of right now if you go to www.begborrowandsteal.com.au you will find that you can join our mailing list, and not only will you get hot deals on viagra, vicodin and valium (the 3 noble V's, if you will) you will get our 3rd in the series- EP 'steal' for free! It's going to feature remixes from some of our good friends and hopefully people more famous then us.

And finally, as of next week, we are in Melbourne! Friday night 18th Sep we are playing at Ding Dong Lounge supporting the very attractive Dash & Will along with Ieyeone and the following night (sat 19th) at WOW - make sure you tell them Sailmaker sent you.

All our loving

Oh man......

...Are we tired.

Joel pulled 3 x 18 hour nights in the studio in a row whilst paul was mixing up the road at linear. The rest of us did our time including 20 hours last Saurday where I think we saw through time and formed a collective consciousness. We also drank heaps of Irish Whisky.

The week before consisted of much of the same plus a filmclip shoot at metroscreen in paddington - anyone would think we were a real band or something.

So yeah, before I fall asleep on this keyboard -

*Ep is out 26th September - looks like we will have more than one over the next few months so stay tuned for some announcements.

*We are showcasing our new songs on 31st July at The Sandringham in Newtown - stay tuned for full details. We want all of you to come down!

*Add us on Twitter and Facebook and Myspace - so every click is a Sailmaker click.

Here's some photos, new video soon! -

Another Video Blog

Less wit.

Less words.

Let the pictures do the talking.

STOKES!!!!!

LETS GET IT STARTED IN HERE (VIDEO BLOG UPDATE 1)

So so so so so so SO!

We are in the studio.

O-fficial.

Sleepless nights. Check!

McDonalds/ Dominos diet.. Check!

Cigarette holocaust… Check!

Our new friend and mentor Paul McKercher has been down a few times to help with progress as well as Ben from MM9 with some insane drum mics and all our studio neighbours as well.
Add some well appropriated mics from Audio-Technica, amps from Hell City Glamours and whatever 1,2 seppuku left lying around and our working title for the EP ‘Beg, Borrow, Steal’ is seeming a good reflection of how things are getting done here. Joel and Dylan are putting in some really hard yards… Hesh’s whooping cough makes the odd guest appearance when he isn’t out at some bar ‘medicating’ – Matt is just about to get into the thick of things and Stokes is probably our new mascot.

Here, now, is our first video blog instalment. MORE TO COME!

Love –

Gots us some cabin fever people.
You could probably kill a kid (goat or human) with the nictotine stained on the roof of stu stu.
The upside of this is: heaps of songs! Ones that we think are pretty good. Some are demo’d some are still shambolic messes and some are ready to be made sexy and rammed into your ears via your preferred medium. We’ve had the odd party too down at the studio which has resulted in some straaaange Drum & Bass tracks being produced – stay tuned for these, they may not be funny to you, but how funny they are to us may be funny to you.. if you know what we mean(???)

We have Paul Mckercher tagged to mix the record. Which we are all excited, if not a little nervous about. You see, we are tracking it ourselves, which means, we could end up wasting a few weeks tracking all for our ARIA winning friend to tell us it sounds like lawnmowers wrestling. Time will tell! So watch this space as we will be uploading Videos! And there will be even more typing! We know, we know, we know… we’re all CRAZY up in this shit here at Sailmaker.

Before all of this happens though we are playing with our friend Madeline Paige on Wed May 13th at the Supper Club in Darlinghurst. It’s a pretty cool venue and Wednesday has been the new Thursday for so long you should probably just call it Thursday…. So come down and have a drink before we retire into a world of repetition, cigarettes and narcissism for the winter.

I Remember the Colours of Summer

So we went to Dunbogan on holidays with the extended crew the other weekend and it was pretty fricken sweet. We played french drinking games (which resluted in french and french associated people drinking everyone under the table) ate BBQ's and sung karaoke....

.... But looks like we are swinging into some semblance of gig mode now that all the fun in the sun is over.

Last Sunday at The Hopetoun was fun (as well as a slimy shade of humid)!
Thanks for everyone getting down early, I think we all enjoyed the show and you guys were either drunk, high or seemed to enjoy the new songs (or maybe all three which is fine too).
So anyhow, we have another Sydney show soon, which may bring some more new songs to the fore, more sweat and more drinking and getting high from you lovely folk.

So as per Above we are playing with Rogerthat & The Bungalows at Spectrum on 4th of April. Like we usually prefer, we are on first at 8.30pm and would really really love to see you there!

In other Stu - Stu news Dylan has been working with labelmates Lights Out on some demo songs and I’m pretty sure Tim Rogers just got a memo saying he is no longer needed as this is some fantastic Australian indie-rock and if we can get that arsehole who runs Candy Pants records to consent we’ll put a track or two of that up for your listening pleasure!
Hesh has been working with 1 2 Seppuku’s Chris K, Joel A and Frenchman Alex Dubrana on some loud, angry music – with bassist Jono from The Hell City Glamours due back from SXSW next week expect to see them shaking their overdrive about soon…. Dylan and Joel are still trying to make it big with Poxy Music – pretty sure some demos of that will appear on this here page in the V-near future as well.

See you all in Autumn!

Sunday Evening Show - 22nd March

This Sunday we are making a very understated appearance.

Opening up for Sierra Finn at the Hopetoun Hotel as part of their residency for the month of March.

We have 4... maybe 5 new songs we will be playing live for the first time ever, so whilst we hope no one expects too much, if you are interested, get on down early Sunday evening (let's say 6.30pm) and have a final summer beer with us before the next working week drags you out of daylight savings and into the cold dark winter ahead.

Best,

फॉर पोस्ट साक्स

So there’s not too much happening in the extroverted world of Sailmaker over the past month.

On the inside - Dylan has been on holidays in Japan. Hesh is having a never ending pool party and Matt took a short break with family commitments.

Joel however, has been a busy little tyke. And the rest are all beginning to follow suit (except for Dylan-san who is probably skiing in Niseko right now the sonofabitch).

So - if this sounds like cabin fever gibberish you probably have a good idea of what we are facing.
The good news though, is that we prolifically compiling ideas and demos and all sorts of shite.
A few of the songs are almost at finished demo quality and we’ll probably post them soon in some sort of medley so you don’t steal the millions they will quite obviously make for us.

Until then, if you are friend, come visit Stu-Stu! If you are a fan check back soon… and if you are a foe, what’s the big deal bro? Let’s hug.

Stu-stu-studio-au-go-go

Soooo the studio (working title is 'Stu-Stu Studio') is pretty much into some semblance of shape. I’m posting from what will eventually be the lounge area but which so far has been a place to ride bikes and skateboard and drink beer etc.. We had our first jam on Friday night and managed to get a few things together which we’ll upload soon. After rehearsing, our good friends from Lungs and associated peoples came down and we had an unofficial studio warming and drank far too much and played Nirvana covers and all manner of teenage shite. Good times!

Our other (and somewhat the same) friends Animal Shapesare in demo-ing at the moment - being the guinea pigs for our studio experiment and I must say it’s sounding pretty good! Hopefully once Dylan has edited out Adam’s mid song rambles and beat boxing they’ll let us put up a track. Shit, we might even claim it as our own. Make sure you check them and our old friends and contemporaries Jamie Hay, Donnie Dureau and Darren Gibsonaka Tyre Swans out this week on their jaunt through NSW.

Anyway, we hope you enjoy the photos- here is a little random mixtape by hesh, if you would like to – download below. If you’ve ever seen him DJ at hot damn! then this is all nothing new I’m sure, but you can pretend it’s Thursday night every morning on the bus on the way to work (probably not suitable for Friday mornings though).
